Digital Tsunami combines a fresh creative perspective with considerable
communications expertise and has a heritage of many years of delivering an extensive range of effective and innovative marketing communications solutions.
The company was founded in Hong Kong in 1996; during the earliest years of the World Wide Web.
The Digital Tsunami name refers to the massive wave created by ocean-floor tectonic or volcanic activity; as a metaphor for the immensely powerful new wave of digital technology which has transformed the corporate and social landscape within a single generation.

The major events of 2004 and 2011 reinforce the metaphor, both by the immense impact of the tsunami, and the application of the Internet and mobile devices as rapid delivery media to confirm information and alert coastal populations.
In global social and economic terms, the advances in information technology and the impact of the World Wide Web since its inception in 1994 has been even more substantial. New paradigms have emerged in which some enterprises have grown dramatically, and others have been devastated.
In this environment, Digital Tsunami has continuously delivered sage advice in the effective use of proven technologies and world-best practices to capitalise on a constantly evolving marketplace. To emphasis this philosophy, the company brandline is "Communications Evolution".
With a multi-lingual staff, and located in the heart of Asia, it was natural that Digital Tsunami developed a robust capacity for designing sites in double-byte (Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic, Thai, etc.) character sets.
The company rapidly built a portfolio of international clients including Internet start-ups and globally recognised brands. The client base includes corporations based in Hong Kong, London, New York, Sydney and Tokyo.
The establishment of the Sydney operations of the group occurred when the company founder returned to Australia after a decade in Asia. The founder's history prior to Digital Tsunami included Fortran and COBOL programming an ICL 1901 mainframe computer in the late sixties!
Digital Tsunami focuses on applications of interactive, mobile, database-driven and e.commerce sites. The company has developed DeployControl™, a proprietary CMS (Content Management System) which can be integrated into each new online presence to enable clients to control content. SilverStripe, Sitecore and WordPress solutions are also regularly integrated.
To ensure rapid access and high-level support for clients, Digital Tsunami has operated dedicated web and mail servers in the USA from 1996, and in Australia from 2000, progressively upgrading hardware and software on these servers. All current dedicated servers are virtual servers for instant and uninterrupted hardware upgrading and configured with 4GB RAM for rapid page loading. Co-location or 'mirroring' of servers in Australia and China has been implemented for extremely high-volume, nationally localised websites. Tech Support is provided online and via telephone for clients around the globe.
